The Quintessential Trump (love him or leave him)

I’m writing this after reading this interview with Madeleine Westerhout (Trump’s former personal Secretary) in today’s Dagens Nyheter// DNIt gives an insight into working conditions and working relations with Boss Trump. She’s upbeat about him. Björn af Kleen writes,

“Westerhout, who arranged the dinners, sees Trump as a father figure, a "kind and caring" 74-year-old who "took care of me, just like my own father".” …” I have never seen anyone read as much as he does.”, “- I guess his respect for women started with his mother who I know he felt a deep reverence for”, she says… Did you ever feel uncomfortable in a private room with the President? – “Of course, before I got to know him properly. I did not like what I heard about him. But everyone carries a past. And he has admitted that he made mistakes. Nobody is perfect. Only one is perfect. God… She illustrates, in a nutshell, how many Republican representatives in the White House came to be charmed, or manipulated, by Trump's unusual persona, by his availability and overwhelming presence."

- "I have never met anyone who is so alive in every moment of life, says Westerhout about his former boss. - He is obviously a very divisive person. But I got to know him better than most people will ever do. I do not imagine that I can change people's minds. But I wish you could pause and realize that everything that is said on TV about him is not true… His bullshit meter is good. He notices when people are not sincere. I realized that I did not want to be such a person after looking at others who were not truthful towards him. He respected that… It happened that Westerhout protested against rudeness - she thinks she stopped a draft with a descriptive description of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's appearance.”

The Quintessential Trump (love him or leave him)

 In his own words,

“You know why people like me? Because I speak the truth!”

“You know why people hate me? Because I speak the truth!”

“The difference is, the ones who like me can handle the truth!”

As the saying goes, “Tell the truth and shame the devil!

Truth! Truth! Truth!

Pontius Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth? “after which Pontius consequently washed his hands off the whole affair.

If during his 47 years long career as a politician a remark such as “grab them by the hussy” were to have been attributed to old man Biden, then he would have been finished goods, long done and dusted. Sadly, the equally colourful personality we knew as Norman Mailer – and often as temperamental as Trump, is no longer with us in the flesh and today one may only wonder how he would have been covering the combustible ball of holy fire with the mop of blonde hair now calling the shots in the White House.

In my not so humble opinion, in order to more fully understand Trump, I would recommend these two little books by Harry G. Frankfurt as essential background reading:

1.       On Truth

2.       On Bullshit

Today too Trump’s enemies would like to crucify him. Just as they crucified Jesus.

“Can they imagine the darkness that will fall from on high

When men will beg God to kill them and they won't be able to die.?”

Recently, when Trump  was laid low by the coronavirus, heavenly good luck and get well soon messages started flying in from world leaders and folks from all corners of the world, possibly with the exception of the Islamic Republic of Iran, because I don’t recall any get-well message coming from their Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei or his foreign minister and former negotiator-in-chief Mohammad Javad Zarif or even from over here in Sweden our bad boi of the moment, one Hamid Zafar who says that he repented of his antisemitic and anti-Zionistic conspiracy theories a long time ago, although his holier-than-thou enemies continue to disbelieve him and to not forgive him...

Whilst and whereas the Trump lovers love him and pray that the Almighty will give him four more blessed years in the White House to complete the fruitful work he began so stunningly well before the invisible enemy struck, the Trump haters say that they loath him and won’t vote for him. So, who do they intend to vote for? Sleepy Joe, Kamala Hoe, and Nancy Pelosi who chirps, “I pray for the President every day”?

No doubt Sleepy Joe thought that it was Trump’s just deserts and was probably getting ready to make his maiden condolence speech and his major funeral oration even as he  - no hypocrisy - sent his message wishing Trump a speedy recovery, and of course, he could do no better because if he didn’t wish his president a speedy recovery then he Joe Biden would look bad, would look like Biden the bad guy, after all, Joe Biden is no Field Negro, like the one that Malcolm X talks about here:

“So, you have two types of Negro. The old type and the new type. Most of you know the old type. When you read about him in history during slavery he was called "Uncle Tom." He was the house Negro. And during slavery you had two Negroes. You had the house Negro and the field Negro.

The house Negro usually lived close to his master. He dressed like his master. He wore his master's second-hand clothes. He ate food that his master left on the table. And he lived in his master's house--probably in the basement or the attic--but he still lived in the master's house.

So, whenever that house Negro identified himself, he always identified himself in the same sense that his master identified himself. When his master said, "We have good food," the house Negro would say, "Yes, we have plenty of good food." "We" have plenty of good food. When the master said that "we have a fine home here," the house Negro said, "Yes, we have a fine home here." When the master would be sick, the house Negro identified himself so much with his master he'd say, "What's the matter boss, we sick?" His master's pain was his pain. And it hurt him more for his master to be sick than for him to be sick himself. When the house started burning down, that type of Negro would fight harder to put the master's house out than the master himself would.

But then you had another Negro out in the field. The house Negro was in the minority. The masses--the field Negroes were the masses. They were in the majority. When the master got sick, they prayed that he'd die. [Laughter] If his house caught on fire, they'd pray for a wind to come along and fan the breeze.

If someone came to the house Negro and said, "Let's go, let's separate," naturally that Uncle Tom would say, "Go where? What could I do without boss? “

Biden is probably asking the same question and for him the boss is still Brother Obama, the former White House Negro.

Maybe this question in your mind is lit: Would Malcolm X have supported sleepy Joe Biden for President? Would James Baldwin have endorsed him? And Nina Simone?  Huey Newton? What about Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan?  Angela Davis? Cornel West? Ta-Nehisi Coates? And if they wouldn't like to vote for Joe, would that mean that they are not "really Black", like him? Well, what we know is that Ta-Nehisi Coates says that “Joe Biden Shouldn’t Be President”

And Coates was only telling his own “the truth.”
