The big bigotry of the majority is an equally dangerous enemy within - "But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency..." - Bob Dylan : Slow Train
Here’s some colour from Finland’s former Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja:
“I don't understand anything anymore: when we make fun of black people, we call it racism and when we mock Jews, we call it anti-Semitism and when we mock women, we call it sexism and when we mock Muslims we call it freedom of speech.”
( It's also a nice letter to newspapers in Muslim countries
They say that” a picture is worth a thousand words”?
I daresay that the bigots probably believe that just one of
their impious cartoons is sufficient to extinguish the fire of hell which is fuelled by stones and the bones of impious men.
I rest my case with these 2023 words by Tariq Ali
Once again, when it comes to hypocrisy, bigotry and double standards there’s no point in asking how does French sensibilité feel about the French Government banning freedom of speech on an occasion when "such freedom insults the corpse of Charles de Gaulle.” Of course, the great General de Gaulle led the French resistance against Nazi Germany in the Second World War, and that's a great big plus, but what about Muslim sensibilities?
And, who is greater, the Prophet of Islam salallahu alaihi wa
salaam or General de Gaulle?
I just asked Professor Google: Who is the greatest man that ever lived?
I’m reading Eli Göndor’s succinct Religionskollision (Religious
conflict: majority, minority and the limits of tolerance) which I purchased on
Wednesday. It should be shared with a much wider audience, but unfortunately, for the time being it’s only available in Swedish
